Jim Henry

JimJim Henry has served as Senior Writer for 180 Communications since 2006, focusing on book projects and Media Training nationally. Jim has served as lead writer and editor on four books with New York Times best-selling author Don Yaeger, and co-authored “Tarnished Heisman.”

Jim is a news veteran, having spent more than 20 years working for daily newspapers in St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Tallahassee. The majority of his newspaper tenure involved covering collegiate sports on state and national levels.

Versatility is Jim’s greatest strength. He co-hosted a weekly sports talk show on ESPN radio that has attracted local, state and national guests. He has served as a senior writer and general manager of a specialty sports magazine, The Osceola, in Tallahassee and spent three years as an Internet sports publisher.

Jim began his newspaper career as a correspondent with his hometown Tampa Times in 1978. He was then hired by the St. Petersburg Times in 1980 while attending the University of South Florida and then made the move to full-time with the Tampa Tribune in 1982. His assignments over the years have ranged from youth football to Super Bowls, feature stories to NCAA investigations, breaking news to feel-good columns.

Additionally, Jim has interview thousands of athletes and has covered NCAA National Championship events in football, basketball and baseball. He has served as a sports correspondent for national newspapers, Sports Illustrated magazine and numerous collegiate Internet sites.

Jim doesn’t just cover athletics, he lives it. He has a unique perspective on its demands, expectations and pressures since his son, a former All-American, is a pitcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and his twin daughters competed in athletics on the high school level. Jim and wife Dawn reside in Tallahassee.
